The BrakeAway Team!

Meet the Team

BrakeAway’s Tour Guides are all London Actors and Performers, passionate about the incredible city that we all share.

Marvellous Mike : Guide

Musician, Actor, Singer and Songwriter. Mike has appeared in productions ranging from A Winter's Tale to Eastenders. Don't take our word for how talented he is, though, as a recent ‘thumbs up’ from Simon Cowell on Britain’s got Talent demonstrates that he is destined to be a Star…and ensure that you leave us with a smile on your face.

Favourite London Trivia:
15% of all marriages in late 17th & early 18th century Britain were conducted in London’s fleet prison.
Mighty Martin : Guide

Our resident Shakespearean expert Martin has featured in amongst others, Twelfth Night, King Lear and Richard III. When not paying homage to the bard, Martin is also a stage director who has just completed an adaptation of the Turn of the Screw. If you're lucky he may recite you a sonnet or two!

Favourite London fact:
It is illegal to enter the Houses of Parliament in a suit of armour – Martin has first-hand experience!
Magnificent Matthew : Guide

A talented actor, singer and swashbuckling ‘special action performer’ who has taken to the stage as a sword-fighter at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, and was also the lead vocalist on P & O Cruises for some 4 years. Now with his feet on dry land Matthew is here to provide you with an action packed bicycle tour of London.

Favourite London trivia:
As well as being married to each other the Queen and Prince Philip are second, third and fourth cousins.
Knowledgeable Kraig : Guide

The ‘Granddaddy’ of the BrakeAway team - is currently on stage in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as Grandpa George. He has also appeared in British hit-show ‘The Bill’, along with Christopher Nolan’s film 'Inception'. Unfortunately, we couldn't entice Leonardo DiCaprio to join the team but Kraig is an excellent alternative...

Favourite London Trivia:
The tale of the stalker Robert Moore, whose skeleton remained undiscovered for 3 years within sight of the Queen’s windows at Buckingham Palace!
'Barking Mad' Chris : Owner

Owner of the business and there to support the guides. Chris created BrakeAway 5 years ago and has a real passion for London, and all things on two wheels, which filters down to the whole team. Chris has worked hard to create the different tours, and has spent many hours researching the pubs and restaurants that we recommend after your time with us!

Favourite London trivia:
The phrase ‘Barking Mad’ originates from a mediaeval asylum for the insane, which was part of Barking Abbey, in the district of East London suburb where Chris hails from.
